Implant Placement Techniques

Under the Pectoral Muscle (Submuscular Placement)

Advantages:

• A natural result, particularly in the upper part of the breast

• Implants are less palpable to the touch

• Does not interfere with mammography screenings

Disadvantages:

• A longer surgical procedure

• Extended recovery period

• May shift slightly during intense physical activities, but this will not be noticeable to the naked eye

Above the Pectoral Muscle (Subglandular Placement)

Advantages:

• Quick recovery time

• A simple and fast procedure

• Allows for the placement of implants of any size, allowing you to enlarge your breasts by several sizes at once.

Disadvantages:

• Difficulties with mammography and X-rays of the chest area

• Can result in an unnatural appearance, with fullness in the upper part and visible edges of the implant under the skin

• The risk of tissue sagging, as the muscle won't provide support to the implant

Under the Fascia of the Muscle (Subfascial Placement)

Advantages:

• Lower risk of capsular contracture

• Soft, natural contours of the breast

• Retains nipple sensitivity

Disadvantages:

• Probability of displacement

• Longer duration of both surgery and recovery

• Potential for asymmetry

Types of Incisions for Implant Insertion

Under the breast (sub-mammary incision):

• Unnoticeable incision line

• The implant can be placed either submuscularly or subglandularly

Around the areola (periareolar incision):

• The least traumatic method

• Fast healing due to the characteristics of the areola tissues

Preparing for Surgery

1. Consultation with your surgeon. During this meeting, you’ll discuss your goals and expectations, and you'll have the chance to try on sizers to help you visualize the size and shape of your renewed breasts.

2. Before the breast tightening, medical examinations and tests will be conducted to ensure there are no hidden contraindications and to assess your overall health. Your surgeon will also provide general pre-surgery instructions, which may include avoiding certain medications, alcohol, and smoking.

3. Proper preparation for the postoperative period is essential for a smooth recovery. Ensure you arrange for adequate rest and relaxation during your rehabilitation. We recommend postponing any strenuous tasks or household chores until you are fully recovered, allowing your body the time it needs to heal.

Postoperative Period and Recovery

In the first few days following surgery, it is completely normal to experience moderate discomfort, a feeling of fullness in the breasts, and some swelling. Hematomas in the breast area may also appear, typically lasting for two to three weeks.

For the first 1-3 days, you will stay in our comfortable hospital, where our dedicated team of doctors and nurses will closely monitor your recovery. Should you feel any pain or discomfort, rest assured that our attentive nurses will promptly administer pain relief at any time, day or night. Once you’re discharged, we will provide you with a prescription for pain medication and antibiotics to ensure your continued comfort.

Upon discharge after the allotted time, you will be given a detailed set of guidelines for your recovery. For the first one or two months, wearing compression garments will be essential, followed by soft, wire-free bras for support.

You can resume most of your usual activities after about two months, and more intense physical activities can typically be resumed after 4-6 months.
