Sciton Joule bbL and Halo in Dubai

BBL and HALO are two skin treatments available on the Sciton JOULE platform at Seline Clinic. BBL (BroadBand Light) uses pulsed light to address selected pigmentation and redness. HALO is a hybrid fractional laser that improves uneven texture, fine lines and the appearance of pores. Each can be used individually or as part of a combined treatment plan.

Sciton Joule bbL and Halo in Dubai

Brown spots, visible pores and fine lines often appear together, but they do not necessarily need the same treatment. The first step is to identify whether your main concern is colour, texture or a combination of both. With BBL and HALO available at Seline, your doctor can plan care for skin tone and texture in one place. The recommendation takes account of your skin, the improvement you want and the recovery time you can allow.

BBL and HALO at a Glance

  • Treatment type: BBL uses broad-spectrum pulsed light. HALO is a hybrid fractional laser.
  • Aim: a more even skin tone and smoother texture, with treatment selected for concerns such as sunspots, redness, visible pores and fine lines.
  • Anaesthesia: topical anaesthetic is usually applied before HALO. BBL generally does not require it.
  • Sessions: BBL may be planned as three to six sessions, around two to three weeks apart. HALO often involves one or two sessions, with any repeat treatment scheduled according to your recovery and goals.
  • Recovery after BBL: most people return to normal daily activities the same day. Mild redness and temporary darkening or flaking of treated pigmentation can occur.
  • Recovery after HALO: allow around five to seven days for visible redness, swelling and flaking, depending on treatment intensity. Lighter treatments may settle sooner.
  • Combination: BBL and HALO may be performed in the same visit or scheduled separately following assessment.
  • Cost: an individual quotation based on the treatment, area and number of sessions.

How Does BBL Differ from HALO?

Technology: BBL is a form of intense pulsed light, not a laser. HALO combines ablative and non-ablative laser wavelengths for fractional resurfacing.

Typical role: BBL addresses selected brown spots, redness and superficial blood vessels. HALO improves uneven texture, fine lines, the appearance of pores and selected scars. It can also improve sun-related discolouration.

Visible after-effects: BBL may cause temporary redness and darkening of treated pigmentation. HALO generally involves more visible recovery, including redness, swelling, bronzing and flaking.

Treatment selection: the choice depends on the concern being treated, skin suitability and available recovery time.

The benefits can overlap, but HALO works differently from a BBL photofacial. Each has its own settings, treatment process and aftercare.

When Might BBL and HALO Be Appropriate?

A combined approach may be useful when pigmentation and textural changes occur together, provided each treatment offers a relevant benefit.

Sun Spots with Uneven Texture

BBL may target suitable sun spots while HALO resurfaces areas of rough or uneven texture. The type of pigmentation is assessed first. New or changing spots should be examined before cosmetic treatment.

Acne Marks, Scars and Fine Lines

Flat marks left after acne differ from indented scars and may need a different approach. HALO may improve uneven texture, certain acne scars and fine lines. Deeper or mixed scars may benefit from additional treatments, with the expected improvement discussed during consultation.

When BBL or HALO Alone May Be Enough

A focused concern may respond to one treatment. Both are recommended only when the combination is appropriate for your skin and goals.

Is It Suitable for Every Skin Tone?

Suitability is assessed separately for each technology. BBL is generally better suited to lighter, untanned skin, while HALO can be tailored to a wider range of skin tones.

Your assessment considers recent tanning and any history of pigmentation after acne, irritation or previous procedures. Melasma needs particular care because some light and laser treatments can aggravate pigmentation.

Treatment may be postponed if you have an active skin infection, significant irritation or sunburn. Mention pregnancy or plans for pregnancy during your consultation.

BBL and HALO Cost in Dubai

The cost depends on whether you have BBL, HALO or a combined treatment, the area treated and the number of sessions recommended.

Your individual quotation will specify the treatment and sessions included. The clinic team can also confirm consultation and follow-up fees before you book.

Ask Seline on WhatsApp for current pricing.

What to Discuss at Your Consultation

Explain your main concern, the improvement you hope to achieve and any upcoming events that may affect your timing. Share your medical history, medicines and supplements, current or previous isotretinoin use, recent tanning and previous skin treatments. Mention any healing difficulties or pigmentation changes after earlier procedures.

If you have a history of cold sores, preventive medication may be recommended before HALO. Do not start or stop medication without medical advice.

Before treatment, your doctor will explain the recommended approach, likely recovery, expected results and whether appointments should be combined or spaced apart.

What Happens During Treatment?

Preparation and Eye Protection

The skin is cleansed and the treatment area confirmed. Protective eyewear is used throughout. Before HALO, topical anaesthetic is applied and given time to take effect.

BBL

The filter and light settings are selected for the skin and concern being treated. Cooling helps protect the surface and improve comfort. Each pulse may feel warm or like a brief snap against the skin.

HALO

The handpiece moves across the area at the selected depth and coverage. It creates microscopic treatment zones, leaving untreated skin between them to support healing. Cooling helps manage the sensation of heat.

Review and Aftercare

Your skin is checked, and you receive instructions on skincare, recovery and follow-up. If both technologies are included, their order and timing follow your individual treatment plan.

Recovery After BBL and HALO

When HALO is included, plan for several days of visible recovery.

  • First day: warmth, redness and swelling are common, with their intensity depending on the treatment settings and individual response.
  • Days two and three: the skin may feel rough and develop tiny dark specks or a bronzed appearance.
  • Following days: the skin gradually flakes. Allow around five to seven days for visible recovery, although lighter treatments may settle sooner and redness can last longer after more intensive treatment.

After BBL alone, most people can return to work and usual daily activities the same day. Treated pigmentation may darken temporarily before fading and flaking over the following one to two weeks. Avoid makeup on the first day, and strenuous exercise, saunas and steam rooms for the first two to three days, unless your clinician advises otherwise.

For either treatment, follow your instructions on gentle cleansing, moisturising and daily broad-spectrum sun protection. Avoid rubbing or picking the skin. After HALO, restart makeup, exfoliants and retinoids only when advised, and confirm when to resume exercise and swimming. Areas beyond the face may take longer to recover.

When Will Results Become Visible?

Improvements in skin tone often become noticeable within the first few weeks as treated pigmentation fades. Skin texture may continue improving over the following months as collagen develops.

Daily sun protection and suitable skincare help maintain the improvement. Your progress is reviewed before deciding whether further treatment or maintenance sessions would be useful.

Comfort and Safety

Careful assessment, appropriate settings and an experienced clinician help reduce the risk of unwanted effects. At Seline, treatment is planned around your skin and supported by clear aftercare advice.

Temporary redness, swelling and sensitivity can occur, particularly after HALO. Less common complications include pigmentation changes, infection, cold sore reactivation or slower healing. Scarring is rare.

Follow your recovery instructions and contact the clinic promptly if you notice increasing pain, blistering or signs of infection.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are BBL and HALO the same treatment?

No. BBL uses broad-spectrum pulsed light, while HALO is a hybrid fractional laser. They are separate treatments available on the same Sciton JOULE platform and can be used individually or together when appropriate.

Are BBL and HALO suitable for darker skin tones?

HALO can be tailored to a wider range of skin tones, while BBL is generally better suited to lighter, untanned skin. Each treatment requires a separate suitability assessment, including any history of pigmentation changes.

Can BBL and HALO be done on the same day?

Yes, in selected cases. Your doctor will assess whether combining them in one visit is appropriate or whether separate appointments would better suit your skin and treatment goals.

How many sessions will I need?

BBL may involve a course of three to six sessions, around two to three weeks apart. HALO often involves one or two sessions. If HALO is repeated, the interval is confirmed according to treatment intensity and recovery. Combined appointments follow an individual schedule.

How long is the recovery after HALO?

Allow around five to seven days for visible redness, swelling, bronzing and flaking. Lighter treatments may settle sooner, while more intensive treatment can take longer. Your clinician will explain what to expect from your particular settings.

Is the treatment painful?

BBL can feel like brief, warm snaps against the skin. For HALO, topical anaesthetic and cooling improve comfort, although warmth or stinging may still be felt. Sensations vary with the settings and individual sensitivity.

When can I wear makeup after HALO?

Your clinician will advise when makeup can be resumed, based on treatment intensity and healing. Some lighter treatments allow an earlier return, while deeper treatments require more time. Follow your individual aftercare instructions.

Is HALO the same as HALO TRIBRID?

No. Original HALO uses two laser wavelengths, while HALO TRIBRID uses three. This page describes the original two-wavelength HALO treatment.
